Shades of Blond
Platinum Blond
Platinum blond is a very light blonde, almost white. It’s a great look for the summer because it looks good with tanned skin and makes you look younger. You definitely need to get your hair bleached in order to achieve this shade, as it won’t come out right if you don’t start with an already light base color.
You also have to protect your hair from chlorine (swim cap) and the sun (spray on SPF). If you don’t do this, your platinum will turn yellow-ish instead of staying true platinum all summer long!
Strawberry Blond
- A strawberry blond is a mix between dark red and light blond.
- It looks like copper-brown hair if you have lighter skin, but it can look like gold or honey if you have darker skin.
- The term is sometimes used to describe people who are born with naturally red hair but then lighten their shade in the sun over time, so don’t be confused if someone calls themselves “strawberry blonde” and they’re clearly not natural redheads!
Butterscotch Blond
Butterscotch blond is a great color for people with light skin, blue eyes and a warm complexion. Butterscotch has been around for awhile, but it’s still as popular as ever. It’s a natural looking color that works well on most hair types and face shapes.
Honey Blond
- Honey Blond:
- This shade is a warm blonde color, like honey. It looks great on medium to dark skin tones. This shade is not as bright as platinum blond, but it isn’t as dark as ash blond either.
- When you have a medium complexion and want a more natural-looking highlight to your hair, this is a good choice for you
Dark Ash Blond
Hair color: Dark Ash Blond
The name says it all. This is a warm blonde with hints of brown, making it perfect for those who want to be on the warmer side of hair colors. It works best with cool skin tones and can be maintained at home by using at-home products from your local drugstore or salon.
This shade looks best on medium length hair because you get more definition around the face and neck area, but for anyone with shorter lengths, this would work well as an ombre look too!
Ash Blond
As a colorist, I’ve found that ash blond is one of the most versatile shades for blondes. Ash is a cool-toned blonde that complements a wide range of skin tones and eye colors. This shade also looks very natural—the washed-out nature of this hue provides a great base for adding dimension with highlights or lowlights (depending on your preference).
Ash is especially flattering when you have fair skin and light eyes because it will complement both while still giving you an airy feel to your look. If you have darker features, however, but still want the sun-kissed appearance of lighter hair, ash can be combined with other shades like caramel or copper to achieve this look without going too far overboard with brassy tones.
Caramel Blond
Caramel blond is a light blond with a slight reddish tint. This color looks best with warm skin tones, and it’s one of the best options if you want to brighten your face. The red in this shade of blonde makes it look like your hair has been kissed by sunlight—a beautiful effect!
If you have dark features or olive skin, try caramel highlights instead of full-on caramel hair. They will give your face more dimension without making you appear washed out.
There are lots of different shades of blond.
There are many shades of blond, and it’s not just yellow. From a cool ash tone to a warm honey brown, there are so many ways to go!
The right shade can give you a natural look that will last for weeks at a time.
