Strawberry Henna Hair Dye and How To Apply It
The Skin Test.
Our skin test is not essential, but it’s a good idea. Even though natural henna dye is harmless and won’t cause any allergic reactions, you may have an allergy to the other ingredients in the Henna Kit (for example, if your skin turns red after using a different brand of hair dye). To make sure that this doesn’t happen, we recommend that you perform a small patch test on your forearm or behind your ear before applying the strawberry henna dye to your hair.
To perform this test:
- Mix together 1/2 teaspoon of dry powder with 1/4 cup cool water
- Apply the mixture to a small area of clean dry skin away from your face or sensitive areas like on the scalp or hands
The Henna Process.
The henna process takes about an hour. You can leave the henna in for a few hours, or you can sleep with it overnight.
After applying the henna, use a blowdryer to help it set. Because of this step, I would recommend doing this at night and washing out in the morning before work or school. The stain will wash off after 4-5 washes!
How to apply Strawberry Henna.
- Mix the henna powder with warm water to make a paste.
- Apply the mixture to your hair using a plastic brush and cover your head with a plastic bag. Leave it on for 2 hours.
- Rinse out the henna thoroughly! You can shampoo or use conditioner if you like, but don’t rinse too much—you want to keep as much color in there as possible!
- Repeat every 4-6 weeks until you achieve your desired shade of strawberry red (usually around 3 applications).
Benefits of Strawberry Henna.
Henna is a natural plant-based dye that comes from the dried leaves of a Middle Eastern shrub. It’s been used for thousands of years to color hair, and it’s still popular today. The henna dye itself isn’t permanent; it only lasts about 2 weeks before fading away—but if you want to prevent your strawberry henna from fading, there are ways to do so. (More on that later.)
The benefits of using strawberry henna include its ability to condition your hair as well as make it stronger. Henna also offers other advantages such as stimulating hair growth, making your strands more manageable, helping with dandruff problems, and even soothing your scalp!
Can you use henna on chemically treated hair?
Can you use henna on chemically treated hair?
Yes! Henna is a natural product and will not harm your hair. It works in much the same way as any other hair dye, but there are some important considerations to be aware of before you start:
- If your hair has been chemically treated, it’s best to choose a henna blend that uses only vegetable dyes (red clay and indigo) rather than chemical dyes (usually listed as FD&C colors).
- Always do a strand test before applying henna to your whole head, just like with any other dye.

Henna is a plant extract and it’s natural and safe for your skin. It can also be used to dye skin and nails too.
If you’re looking for a more permanent option than the strawberry henna that will last longer than 2 weeks (or longer if you’re using it on skin), then I’d recommend trying this website: [here]
