What You Need

The color will last for up to 6 weeks, depending on how often you wash your hair. The dye will fade over time and should be replaced in 2-3 months.

  • Hair dye
  • Gloves
  • Container for mixing ingredients (glass or plastic)
  • Shower cap/towel to protect clothes and hairline
  • Face mask if sensitive to chemicals

Other Notes

  • Use a lightener that is not too strong. I like using this color developer from Sally’s because it doesn’t damage your hair as much and it works pretty well with bleached or lightened hair.
  • This method will work best on blondes or bleached hair. If you have darker hair, you might need to use more than one shade of dye for it to show up right (however I don’t recommend that). Make sure to follow directions on the box!

What To Do

  • Mix the color and developer according to the instructions on your chosen brand.
  • Apply to dry hair, starting at the bottom and working up to avoid any unnecessary exposure of skin while you’re in this process (you’ll only be exposing your scalp).
  • Let it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing with cool water until the water runs clear; then condition as usual and style as usual!
  • You can apply more color at roots every 2-3 weeks if you want to maintain your gold hue; otherwise, just let it fade naturally over time!

With this method you will be able to get results that last two to three months!

This is because the gold hair dye that I use is a semi-permanent dye, so it lasts longer than regular permanent dyes. In addition, there are no ammonia fumes like with other dyes which means that you won’t need to worry about your hair falling out either.

To apply it we will first choose our color: bronze, copper or gold. Then using the brush provided in your kit, coat from root to tip making sure not to miss any spots as this can cause uneven coverage and patchiness of color which is something we want to avoid at all costs when doing anything DIY related (especially since we are doing our own hair here).
