Is Your Hair Tone Just Right for Fall?

Whether you’re in the market for a new hair color or just want to update your look, it’s important to choose a shade that is appropriate for your skin tone.

Here are some of the most popular fall hair tones and what each one says about you:

  • Golden blonde—This warm, golden blonde look exudes confidence and strength. It can be intimidating on someone with pale skin who doesn’t know how to strike the right balance between sophisticated elegance and playful fun. For example, if you’re wearing this color but also have an understated outfit or accessories like simple hoop earrings, it might read as too matchy-matchy. If that describes you, try pairing this with black clothing instead of white (or vice versa).
  • Chocolate brown—If you have light brown eyes or medium-toned skin, chocolate brown will make them pop while adding dimension without being overwhelming in its intensity. If you’ve got green eyes though? You may want to reconsider—the contrast could be jarring! (Plus there are plenty of other options out there.)

Ash Brown

Ash Brown is a neutral brown tone with a cool grey tint. If you have cool skin tones and want to lighten up your hair, ash brown can be a great option for you. It’s not too bright but it still looks chic and modern. People with warm skin tones might find this color makes them look washed out, so if you have naturally red or golden undertones in your skin then it might be best to avoid ash toned highlights.

If you don’t know what kind of undertones your skin has, try swatching different colors on the inside of your wrist; if the color suits your eye color then chances are it will look good on your face as well!

Golden Brown

A golden brown hair colour is a warm, medium brown. This tone works well if you want to go warmer but not too warm. If you have olive or yellow-toned skin, this hair colour will look great on you and make your eyes pop! If you have green or hazel eyes, this shade of brown will compliment those colours as well.

Chocolate Brown

Chocolate brown is a great color for dark skin tones. The darker the base of your skin tone, the deeper the chocolate brown will look on you—so if you’re fair and freckly with blue eyes, go for something like a light chestnut tone instead.

If you’re looking to add some depth to your hair color without going all out, try adding a few blonde highlights throughout your locks. This is especially flattering if they’re on top of deep brown strands as opposed to blonde ones (which can appear muddy).

If you have warm undertones and want something that’s not too dark but won’t wash out your complexion either, this is one of our favorite shades! Just make sure it doesn’t get too flat in texture or else it’ll be hard for anyone else but those who know about colour theory to tell there’s any change at all!

Blonde Balayage

Balayage is a free-hand technique where the colour is applied by hand rather than using the traditional foiling or cap highlighting techniques. It’s done using a brush and highlights are painted across the hair to create an “ombre” effect. This look gives you long-lasting dimension and shine without damaging your hair with harsh chemicals.

Ash Blonde

Ash blonde is a great choice if you have very light skin and want to add depth and dimension to your hair. A balance between light blonde, ash brown and gray, this shade works especially well with fair complexions.

It’s important to note that when the sun hits ash-toned hair, it has a tendency to turn orangey or brassy. If you choose an ash-toned dye job, make sure you get regular maintenance appointments at the salon so that your stylist can keep that unwanted color from happening!

Cinnamon Brunette

A cinnamon brunette is a great option for those with warm skin tones. This shade is great for women who want to be more adventurous with their hair colour and are looking for something that’s natural, but not too natural. It’s also ideal for people who want a hair colour that’s a little bit more dramatic than their usual blonde or brown shades. If you have fair skin, though, it’s best to steer clear of this one unless you’re willing to wear sunscreen religiously every day.

Finding the right hair tone can be a challenge and it is good to seek professional help before jumping into a new look.

Finding the right hair tone can be a challenge and it is good to seek professional help before jumping into a new look. If you have been thinking about changing your colour, here are some tips on how to get it right:

  • The wrong shade can make you look dull and lifeless.
  • The right shade will give you an instant lift! When in doubt, ask your stylist for advice.
  • It is not always best to go for the latest trend!
