Without a doubt, the past few years have been all about rose gold and pearl hair–and for good reason. These beautiful hair colors are absolutely stunning, and we strongly encourage you to try them if you haven’t already! However, if you’re in the mood for change, we believe that 2020 might just be the year of vibrant orange hair!

If you’re a fan of the color orange, we have some good news for you: it’s definitely going to be a popular hair color next year. We’ve already seen some great examples of orange on the runway and in magazines this season–and we can’t wait to see more!

We think that getting orange hair is a great way to stand out from the crowd. At first glance, it may seem like an unconventional choice; however, trust us when we say that it really does look stunning when done correctly. Orange has recently become one of our absolute favorite shades because not only does it look unique and beautiful, but also because its vibrancy will help make your skin glow even more than usual (which can be especially helpful if you’re paler than most people). If this sounds like something that would work well for your complexion and personality style (or just overall vibe), then keep reading!

Whether you’re looking to go all-out or something more subdued, there are plenty of ways to get the perfect orange hair. Here’s what you need to know:

Whether you’re looking to go all-out or something more subdued, there are plenty of ways to get the perfect orange hair. Here’s what you need to know:

  • For a semi-permanent color that lasts up to 10 washes, try a dye from a store like Sally Beauty or Ulta. You’ll be able to choose from several shades of orange and build your look gradually by applying one coat at a time over several days until the desired effect is achieved.
  • Permanent dyes last longer than semi-permanent ones but will require more commitment on your part—and may not completely cover gray hairs! They can also be damaging if applied incorrectly (so make sure you follow instructions). The good news? They come in both neutral tones and bold hues like orange, so there’s something for everyone!
  • Toners are used after applying permanent dye and help tone down an unwanted red tone left behind by previous treatments; they’re also helpful for covering any grays that might have come through during application. If possible, opt for one with no ammonia components since they leave behind an unpleasant odor when mixed together with other chemicals during application which makes them especially unpleasant if used near any open windows/doors where fumes could escape into other rooms nearby without warning those inside them first…

First things first–if your hair is naturally dark and you want to go REALLY orange (like, a neon shade of orange), you’re going to need to bleach it first. You’ll also likely have to bleach it multiple times. If this sounds like too much work for you, consider going with a more natural shade of orange instead;

You’ll also likely have to bleach it multiple times. If this sounds like too much work for you, consider going with a more natural shade of orange instead; semi-permanent dyes are not only easier on your hair but they tend to be more pigmented as well.

If bleaching isn’t something that interests you (or if your hair is already very light), there’s another option: You can use an at-home kit like Clairol Nice ‘n Easy Mousses in Light Brown or Medium Brown shades. These come in tubes that contain both developer cream and permanent color cream; just mix them together according to the instructions on the box! Once everything has been mixed up thoroughly (this should take about 5 minutes), apply liberally all over wet tresses before covering with plastic cap for 20 minutes or so.*

  • NOTE: There are no guarantees when using these types of products–they can sometimes turn out brassy or fade quickly after a few weeks/months depending on how often they’re used. As always, test out any new product beforehand so you know what kind of results are possible before committing yourself fully!

Once your hair is bleached, take the time to really think about which shade of orange would look best on you and with your current skintone and eye color. For example, if you have cool undertones in your skin, a pumpkin orange might look great on you;

Once your hair is bleached, take the time to really think about which shade of orange would look best on you and with your current skintone and eye color. For example, if you have cool undertones in your skin, a pumpkin orange might look great on you; whereas if you have an olive or darker skintone, an apricot hue might be more flattering.

For those with blue eyes, try to stick to yellow-based hues like copper or gold instead of reds or greens that can make the whites of your eyes appear too pale and washed out. If your eyes are brown or greenish hazel, ignore this advice! These colors will work just fine (and possibly even better) than they would for someone with blue eyes. And finally—if your boyfriend/girlfriend/best friend is being a jerk because she thinks wearing pink makes you look like a clown—tell her that no matter what color she wears, it’s still going to look like crap compared to how awesome YOU look right now!
