Slap on the gloves and mix up a paste from the henna powder.

If you’re using henna powder to dye your hair, be sure to wear gloves and mix up a paste from the powder. You can use water, lemon juice or vinegar as your liquid base for mixing with the henna. Mix it together until it forms a thick consistency that coats the spoon easily when you dip it into the bowl.

Squeeze out any excess water.

After you have strained the henna mixture, you must squeeze out any excess water by hand. Use a strainer and your hands to remove as much moisture from the mixture as possible, then wrap it in a towel and squeeze out any additional liquid.

With your freshly prepared henna mixture ready to use and no more excess water in sight, you can now apply it to your hair!

The henna should be about the consistency of yogurt.

The henna should be about the consistency of yogurt. This is important because it will determine how well your hair can be coated with the henna paste, leading to better results. The consistency can be changed by adding more powder or liquid, but you will want to err on the side of thinner rather than thicker.

Let it sit for 8-10 hours to oxidize fully.

Finally, we have reached the last step in the process. After you’ve left your henna paste on your hair for the recommended time and it has oxidized, you can rinse out. You should do this in lukewarm water and not hot or cold water to protect your hair from damage. Once you have rinsed all of the henna out of your hair, condition as usual!

For auburn tones: Auburn tones are great if you want to give your strands a subtle reddish tint that looks amazing with any skin tone! If you want this color, let it sit on for 1-3 hours… For dark red tones: This will give your strands lots of shine and will add depth to any style. The only downside is that it can stain light colored clothing so be careful about how long you leave it on (3-6 hours was perfect for me). For deep brown tones: Deep browns are great if you want darker shades without having them look too unnatural or unnatural-looking…

If your hair has never been colored before, wrap it in foil and sit under a hooded dryer.

If your hair has never been colored before, wrap it in foil and sit under a hooded dryer. The heat will help activate the henna and give you a deeper-colored result. Time the process for 15-20 minutes so that it’s fully absorbed into the shaft of each strand, but be careful not to leave it on longer than 20 minutes; otherwise, you’ll get an unnatural red hue (and possibly damage).

After you’ve let your hair sit for at least 15 minutes with foil around it, remove the foil and brush through any clumps with a paddle brush or comb.

If your hair is already colored or previously processed, you can just let it sit without the heat.

Because henna is a natural dye, you may be able to get away with just letting it sit in your hair for 30 minutes or an hour without heat. Henna will color chemically treated hair, but if you’ve recently used any chemical treatments on your hair (coloring or perming) then it’s probably best to use heat to open the cuticles of the hair strands. If you would prefer not to use heat, we recommend that before applying henna powder to your head, you test how well-permeable your strands are by putting a drop of water on them and seeing whether that makes them swell up slightly like when they’re wet with shampoo. If this happens and your hair doesn’t seem irritated by the liquid then go ahead and apply the henna!

Rinse out the Henna when your timer goes off, but do NOT shampoo!

Once you have rinsed the henna out, rinse with apple cider vinegar and water. This will help to close the cuticle of your hair and allow it to remain vibrant and healthy. After this, simply rinse with a conditioner that is gentle enough for your hair type (this step is optional). You may use any kind of conditioner here—it doesn’t matter if it’s not 100% natural!

Now comes the most important part: DO NOT SHAMPOO YOUR HAIR! Shampooing takes away all of the nutrients from your hair that were added by using henna powder in it. Not only does this make your color fade faster than normal, but some dyes can cause damage over time if shampooed too often or with too much force (which can happen when someone uses their hands instead of a brush).

DO NOT USE A TOWEL OR BRUSH ON YOUR HAIR WHEN DRYING IT! Towels are known to be very rough on our scalps—especially ones made from cotton (the kind most towels are made out of). If you feel like using a towel on occasion then make sure its material isn’t hurting your head too much!

Henna is a great way to color your hair without damaging it!

Henna is a natural hair dye, which is why it’s so great for your hair. It has been used as a treatment for dandruff and can even be used to treat acne! Henna is an effective treatment for dandruff because it acts as an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agent, so it helps keep the scalp healthy. If you have sensitive skin that gets irritated easily, henna may be a good choice for you! And if you don’t believe me just yet…

Henna has many benefits when applied topically or ingested orally. Since this article focuses on its topical application (on your skin), let’s talk about what makes henna such an amazing natural conditioner. When mixed with water (or coconut water), ground into powder form using a blender or food processor…
