How to Stand out with Midnight Blue Hair
Step 1: Get yourself to a salon that takes midnight blue hair dye.
Good news: there are salons throughout the country that take midnight blue hair dye. You can ask your friends, check Yelp or Google, or call around to various salons in your area.
- Hair appointment: You now have an appointment with a salon that takes midnight blue hair dye! Next step: getting ready for it.*
Step 2: Pick the hue you want.
Pick the hue you want. Midnight blue hair can be an intense color, but it’s not for everybody. Depending on your skin tone, it may make you look washed out or pale, which is not a good look for anyone. To pick the right midnight blue shade for your skin tone, ask yourself these questions:
- Do I have fair skin? If so, stay away from deep blues that are almost black and stick with an icy light blue instead. This will help balance out your complexion while still making sure that people notice how cool your hair looks in their peripheral vision (which is super important).
- Do I have dark skin? If so, go ahead and try whatever color of midnight blue suits your fancy! Darker-skinned people often look great with deep jewel tones because they bring out their natural hues and make them stand out even more than usual (like my mane here).
Step 3: Shampoo, no conditioner.
After you dye your hair, it’s important to shampoo and condition. Don’t do this! Shampooing strips your hair of its natural oils, which is why we don’t want to use any styling products before dying our hair. Make sure that the color is dry before moving on to the next step. It will be easier for me to tell if my student hasn’t done this correctly if their hair isn’t dry enough.
Step 4: make sure your hair is as dry as it can be.
The next step is to make sure your hair is as dry as it can be. The last thing you want is damp strands, which will cause the dye to not take. So, don’t use a towel that’s very fluffy—it will absorb too much moisture from your hair and leave it damp. Similarly, don’t rub your hair dry; this can also lead to a dull look once the dye has been applied because there won’t be any oils left on it.
Instead, opt for a towel that’s as absorbent as possible (like microfiber) so that you can get as much water out of your hair before applying the dye in Step 5! You might even consider drying with an old t-shirt instead of one made from cotton or another less absorbent material because anything less than microflect will not do justice when trying to get rid of excess moisture from damaged tresses like yours.”
Step 5: Put on the gloves, and get ready for your hair to change forever!
Now that you’re all set up, here are the steps to take:
- Put on your gloves and apply the dye to your hair. Make sure it’s evenly distributed throughout all of your strands.
- Cover yourself with a towel for about 20-30 minutes (or until the timer goes off). The longer you leave it in, the darker and more vibrant your color will be! Just make sure not to stay too long or else it could damage your hair!
- Take off the gloves and get ready for an amazing transformation! If there is extra dye left on your skin, wash it off immediately with soap before it has time to set in permanently—you don’t want any stains on those hands! With this method though, there shouldn’t be any problems unless maybe if someone accidentally got some spilled onto them while helping someone else dye theirs? That would probably just mean they need a shower after this whole process instead though sooo yeah…
Step 6: Divide your hair into sections.
Divide your hair into four sections. If you have short hair, then divide it into two sections and use clips to separate them. If you have long hair, divide it into four sections. Divide each section of your hair using clips so that all the dye is evenly distributed on each section of hair. You can also use a mirror while doing this so you can see what you are doing clearly and make sure the dye is evenly distributed throughout all of your hair.
Step 7: Coat your roots first, then the rest of your hair.
After the bleach has been applied and your hair is dry, it’s time to coat your roots with dye. One way that you can do this is by taking a tint brush (or comb) and brushing the dye through your roots. Another way that you can do this is by taking a piece of cloth or paper towel and putting it in the dye, then wrapping your head with it—this will make sure that exactly where you want it goes onto those roots only.
If using gloves isn’t an option for you, try using rubber bands to keep your fingers covered while they’re in the dye mix!
Step 8: Get all of your hair covered from top to bottom. Make sure none of it is left out!
After you’ve gotten everything rubbed in and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, rinse and towel dry your hair. Then, apply your conditioner from root to tip. It’s important not to skip over any spots! This will make sure that there are no patches of either colour in your hair—and if there are any patches after you wash them out (which is totally normal), you can always go back and do a second application of dye on those sections.
Step 9: Leave the dye in for as long as recommended in the instructions on the bottle.
It’s important to remember that a good dye job is only as good as the color you use.
If you want your hair to look its best, make sure you follow the instructions on the bottle and leave it in for as long as recommended by the brand.
The amount of time depends on two things: how long it takes for your hair to absorb color, and what shade of dye you are using. In general, lighter shades will require less time than darker ones.
If you leave it in too long, though, then this can damage your hair—so make sure not to overdo it!
Midnight blue hair looks amazing if done right.
Midnight blue hair looks amazing if done right. First of all, make sure you get the right shade of blue for your skin tone. If it’s too light or too dark, it will end up looking like a different color altogether (a beautiful one, but not what was intended). Next, don’t use a cheap dye or else you’ll be disappointed with the results (and then we’ll be sorry). Also, if you have dark hair already and want to try this look out on yourself – do it! The darker your roots are in general will make the dye take better to them than lighter shades would. This can create an ombre effect that looks gorgeous on both men and women alike!
