How To Reverse Your Brassy Blonde Hair
Use a purple shampoo.
Using a purple shampoo is an easy way to tone your hair and get rid of brassiness. The best option is l’oreal’s Colorista Violet Shampoo, which you can find at any drugstore or department store.
The process is pretty simple: You simply use the product once a week, or every other week if you prefer using it less often. Simply apply the shampoo to damp hair and leave on for 5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with warm water (don’t use cold water because it can cause damage). If you have sensitive skin, be careful when using this product as some brands contain sulfates that might irritate your scalp and/or skin.
Use a purple conditioner.
If you want to use a purple conditioner, there are several options on the market. For example, if you have blonde hair that’s been dyed with box dye and not professional-grade salon dye, then I recommend using a purple toning conditioner. There are a few different brands available including Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm Blonde Brilliance Toning Shampoo and L’Oreal Paris Colour Vibrancy Blonde Tone Correcting Conditioner for Brassy Hair & Highlights.
If your hair is bleached out or has been exposed to excessive heat (like from blow drying), then it’s best to use an at-home keratin treatment like Olaplex No 4 Bond Maintenance Treatment Kit or Invisibobble Keratin Serum Silver Protection Spray (which also works great on natural black hair). This type of product will help reverse damage caused by bleaching and styling tools while also adding shine and improving elasticity which will protect against future damage when used regularly!
Use a purple mask.
- Use a purple mask once a week.
- Leave it on for 20 minutes, then wash off with cool water.
- Use purple shampoo to remove buildup.
- Use purple conditioner to keep your blonde bright
Tone at home weekly.
Toning your hair at home weekly is essential. If you don’t tone your hair, it will become brassy and yellow. In addition to this, if you leave the toner on too long, it can cause damage to your hair and scalp.
When choosing a toner, there are a few things to consider:
- How often do I want to use the product? If you have dark blonde or light brown hair with little natural lift or red tones then we recommend using our Blonde Shine Toning Shampoo once per week for five minutes followed by our Blonde Shine Toner for ten minutes. This will keep blonde looking fresh without stripping color from highlights or leaving any residue behind which can cause dryness and breakage of new growths.*
