Dyeing Your Hair Silver? Here’s How To Go About It

Find the right color.

The first question you need to ask yourself is: What is the difference between silver and gray hair?

You may be thinking that they are one in the same, but that’s not always the case. Gray hair is a natural process that occurs as we age and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Silver hair dye on the other hand, takes years off your face by giving you a youthful appearance without any of those annoying grays showing up! It also adds vibrancy back into your complexion thanks to all those beautiful colors found within these dyes. If you have any concerns about going with this option though (like who can afford this stuff?), then don’t worry—we’ve got some affordable options for ya later on down below!

Prep your hair.

While you’re waiting for the dye to sit on your hair and get ready to go, it’s time to prep! Wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo and deep conditioner. Be sure that you completely dry off before applying any dye. You’ll want to tie up any strands of hair that might be visible if you’re planning on going out after applying the dyes (as some brands suggest).

Apply your dye.

You can now apply your silver hair dye. I recommend doing it from roots to tips, starting with the top of your head. Use a brush or comb to make sure that you don’t miss any spots, as this will keep the color even throughout your hair. Also, be sure that you apply the color to the back of your head last so that it doesn’t get messed up by having too much product on it already. Leave the dye on for at least 30 minutes—this is how long most instructions say they need in order to work properly—but no more than an hour if possible because leaving it on too long can damage your hair and cause unwanted results on top of what you were hoping for!

Afterward, rinse well until all traces have been washed out (usually about 2-3 times).

Make sure you apply your silver dye evenly, and use a good quality product to avoid damaging your hair and skin.

Silver hair dye should be applied evenly, so that it covers all of your hair. If you apply too much silver dye, it will damage your skin and scalp. If you don’t apply enough silver dye, the color won’t spread evenly across your hair and you’ll end up with patches of brown or other colors instead of a solid silver color. For this reason, it’s important to use high quality products that provide even coverage for an attractive finished result!
