Last Minute Plans? Color Your Hair Purple

You can wash the dye out right away if you want to.

You can be done with it in a matter of hours if you want. If you’re not sure about this hair color, or just want to make sure the dye is completely out before heading out, then by all means leave it in overnight!

But if you’re really ready to go and want the purple out right away, then go ahead and wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner right after showering. The chemicals used in the color are not as harsh as other colors—it’s an oil-based dye instead of a chemical one—so there’s no need for special care (like leaving it on for an extended period). And since purple doesn’t stain skin like red or blue do, there’s also no worry about getting dye all over your neckline. Just get yourself some good ol’ fashioned suds from any old brand at CVS or Target and rinse away!

Dying your hair purple is a great way to change up your look when you’re making last minute plans, because you can wash it out right away if you want to.

Why you should color your hair purple

  • Change up your look with a new color. Sometimes, the best way to shake up your look is by coloring your hair. We know it can be scary, but if you’re feeling adventurous and want to try something different, this is the perfect option for last minute plans!
  • You’ll have fun experimenting with different shades of purple. In addition to being able to change up the shade of purple in your hair (from blue-toned lilac to reddish violet), dying your locks purple gives you additional options when it comes to choosing other colors that complement or contrast nicely with this shade. A few ideas include: green (think forest fairies), pink (#girlpower) or even orange (#tbt).
  • It’s easy enough that anyone can do it! There are many different types of dyes available on the market today—some at drugstores and some only available online—but regardless of where you buy yours from, dying locks is easy enough that anyone can do it with minimal preparation time involved beforehand; all that’s required is patience while waiting for results.*
