How to Make Your Hair Look Ultra Green
Start with clean hair.
The first step in dyeing your hair green is making sure your hair is clean. Your hair should not be freshly washed, nor should it be very dirty. If you have been using conditioner in the shower, it’s best to wash that out before starting this process.
After rinsing out any excess conditioner and shampoo from your hair, use a towel to dry off as much water as possible from your hair. Think of drying it like a cat!
Prepare your work area.
When you’re ready to start, prepare your work area by laying down a towel and placing it on a flat surface. Remove any jewelry that you might be wearing and cover your clothes with an old t-shirt or some other protective covering. Make sure you have a mirror nearby so that you can see what is happening as the dye is being applied to your hair!
Use Vaseline to protect your skin and hairline.
- Use Vaseline to protect your skin and hairline.
Vaseline is great for protecting your skin and hairline from staining, so make sure you apply a thick layer of it on those areas before applying the dye. Other places that might be in danger include ears, hands and feet.
Apply a layer of conditioner around your hairline.
Conditioner is a great alternative to Vaseline, olive oil and coconut oil when it comes to preventing staining around the hairline. The reason why conditioner works so well is because it protects your skin as well as your hair and scalp. There are many different types of conditioners that you could use, but I recommend using one specifically designed for dying your hair green.
The only downside is that it makes removing the dye from your skin difficult if anything goes wrong during application or removal. However, with proper preparation before hand this shouldn’t be an issue!
Wear gloves.
- Wear gloves.
- If you don’t have gloves, use plastic bags instead.
- If you don’t have plastic bags, use Vaseline to protect your hands.
- If you don’t have Vaseline or plastic bags, apply conditioner to your hands and let it soak in for about 5 minutes before applying the dye.
Pour the green dye onto a palette or paper plate.
It is important to use a palette or paper plate when pouring the dye onto your hair. This will ensure that you have a clean surface to pour the dye on and prevent any sort of spillage or mess. If you are using an applicator bottle, simply pour the green dye right into it and proceed to apply it as per the instructions provided on its label
Coat your hair from roots to ends in the dye.
After applying the dye, wait for it to dry. As you’re waiting, use a brush or comb to ensure that the color has reached all of your hair (don’t forget about the back of your head). If you want to be more thorough when applying the dye, try using a towel to wipe away any excess dye from your face and neck after applying it to your hair.
Don’t get too close with this towel because it could contain chemicals that will irritate skin and eyes should you rub them by accident!
After care: Once dried and styled as desired, take note of how the color looks in all lights so that you can avoid being surprised when going outside into natural sunlight!
Wrap your hair in foil or plastic wrap, if possible.
Wrap your hair in foil or plastic wrap, if possible. This will protect your skin from dye and help keep it on your head! If you don’t have either, use a plastic bag. It’s better than nothing! Just make sure to wrap it tightly so that the dye doesn’t bleed onto your face.
Don’t use a towel because they will absorb too much of the dye and cause it to come off onto other things—like clothes, furniture, or anything else around them.
Allow the color to sit for 45 minutes to an hour before washing out the color.
Allow the color to sit for 45 minutes to an hour before washing out the color. You can leave it in for a shorter amount of time if you want a less intense color, but do not leave it in for too long as this could cause damage to your hair. Check on the color frequently as well; if you see that it is becoming too bright, wash out immediately and re-apply with more dye or another brand/color of dye that is darker than what you originally used.
Ultra green hair can be achieved through these helpful tips listed above but be careful and make sure to check on it frequently as you do not want it to be too bright!
