THE CAUSES OF WHITE HAIR

The causes of white hair can vary, depending on the person. According to experts, genetics is one of the main factors that cause hair to turn white prematurely. Stress and hormones are also known culprits behind this condition. Vitamins and aging are other possible reasons why your locks could lose their pigment sooner than expected.

If you have a family history of white hair or experience severe stress in your life, it’s important that you keep an eye out for any changes in your locks’ appearance and coloration—these may be signs that something has changed within your body or mind.

– Aging

Aging is the main cause of white hair. It affects people of all ages, and it’s not a sign of health or disease. It’s important to know that aging doesn’t always mean you will have white hairs.

In addition to aging, other reasons for getting white hair include:

– Genetic predisposition

In cases where you have a lot of white hairs, there is most likely a genetic predisposition. When you have this type of hair loss, the hair follicle has been damaged and it will be unable to produce melanin anymore.

There are two types of familial white hair: Heterogeneous and Autosomal Dominant.

Heterogeneous means that your family members had different kinds of white hair such as peach fuzz or silver. Autosomal dominant means that one parent passed down their genes for white hair to you.

– Deficiency of vitamin B12, Zinc, Copper and Folic Acid

There are several vitamin deficiencies that could be the cause of your white hair. Vitamin B12 deficiency is a common cause of white hair; this vitamin helps produce melanin, which gives color to our skin and hair. A zinc deficiency can also cause white hairs to grow on your head as well as other areas of the body where you have dark pigmented skin (i.e., navel).

Copper deficiency causes white hairs to grow in areas where dark-colored skin or black follicles reside such as the back and legs. Folic acid deficiency is also another reason why people may notice they are developing new gray hairs on an ongoing basis even though they were previously getting their recommended daily allowance (RDA) amounts from food sources such as leafy greens like spinach or Swiss chard; however, it’s important not get carried away with supplements since too much folic acid could actually be harmful for some people—check with your doctor before starting any new medication regimen!

– Hormonal changes

A hormonal change can be the cause of your white hair. This can happen during puberty, during pregnancy or menopause, and also as a result of thyroid problems or Addison’s disease.

– Stress

  • Stress

Stress is a common cause of white hair.

It can also be caused when you’re under a lot of anxiety and pressure, which can lead to an excess of hydrogen peroxide in your body that damages the follicles in your scalp and causes grey hair to appear prematurely.
