How to be a Blonde without Bleach
Using Color Depositing Shampoo
- Use a color depositing shampoo to gradually lighten your hair
The first step in the blonde hair journey is to use a color depositing shampoo. This will help you achieve the best results for your desired shade of blonde and prevent it from looking too brassy or orange-y. These shampoos contain different pigments, so it’s important that you choose one that has pigments closest to your desired shade of blonde. For example: if you want platinum blonde hair, then use a violet-based shampoo instead of an orange based one because violets are closer than oranges at reflecting white light (which is what makes the color look brighter).
Baking Soda & Coconut Oil Mixture
- In a small bowl, mix together 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon coconut oil. If your hair is very dry or damaged, you may want to use a little more coconut oil.
- Apply the mixture to your hair, focusing on the ends rather than the roots (it’s more difficult to make sure you get all of those roots covered!). Leave it in for 30 minutes before rinsing with cool water. Repeat if necessary until you achieve your desired color! You can also leave this mixture on overnight for best results.
Honey and Conditioner
The key to getting the look of blonde hair is using honey. Honey has natural lightening properties and that’s why it’s so perfect for this technique. It won’t damage your hair since you’re only using a tablespoon or so, but it will work its magic on those dark locks of yours by making them lighter than ever before!
Mix the two together and then apply them to dry hair with a brush or your hands (you can also use an old toothbrush if you have one lying around). Leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing out with warm water.
Ash Toning Products
One of the best ways to keep your blonde hair looking platinum-y is by using ash toning products. These are non-damaging products that neutralize yellow tones in blonde or light brown hair, resulting in a cooler (or ashy) shade of blonde. There are several different types of ash toning products: purple shampoo, purple conditioner, purple hair masks and purple toning sprays.
- Purple Shampoo: A good quality purple shampoo is essential if you want to keep your blondes bright and shiny! Purple shampoos give an extra boost of shine while neutralizing brassy tones that occur on all lightened shades of blondes. Purple shampoos have ingredients like violet pigments and mica which absorb into the hair shafts and reflect light back onto them for a high shine finish after rinsing out the dye molecules from earlier bleaching processes (if needed).
- Purple Conditioner: Using a purple conditioner after washing with your regular color-safe conditioner will ensure that any remaining traces left behind from harsh chemicals do not dull out those precious highlights too much! You don’t want them going dull on you now do we? This ensures long lasting results every time without damaging effects due to overuse or misuse.”
