Use a shampoo and conditioner specifically created to reduce brassy tones.

Purple Shampoo

It’s a great idea to use a shampoo and conditioner specifically created to reduce brassy tones. Make sure they’re purple (which cancels out brassiness and unwanted warm tones) and designed for color-treated hair.

If possible, wet your hair with cold water when washing your hair.

If you can, wet your hair with cold water when washing your hair. Cold water closes the cuticles of your hair and helps to lock in the colour. It also helps to keep it looking vibrant and shiny! The best way to do this is by using a shower cap before washing so that the cold doesn’t make it too harsh on your scalp or face.

Wet your hair a bit before heading into a chlorinated pool to reduce any colour changes.

You can reduce some of the brassy tones in your hair by wetting it before going into a chlorinated pool. This will reduce the amount of chlorine that sticks to your hair, which can cause it to look brassy and dull. Just be careful not to use tap water, as this could actually make the problem worse!

Instead, use bottled water or fill up a bucket at home with clean tap water and pour that into your head when you’re ready for swimming (it’s best if you do this after showering).

Be careful about what products you use on your hair, especially for styling.

  • Be careful about what products you use on your hair, especially for styling.
  • Avoid hot water, as this will dry out your hair and make it more prone to brassiness.
  • Avoid products that contain alcohol, sulfates and parabens. These types of ingredients can cause damage to your hair over time, so try switching to natural organic shampoos and conditioners instead.
  • Clarify regularly by using a clarifying shampoo once a week or so to remove product build-up from the colour in your hair (this is most important if you are trying to maintain a colour that is close to the natural tone of your own hair).

Don’t shampoo often because this will strip away the natural oils in your hair that help protect it from brassy tones.

You want to wash your hair as little as possible. The more you wash it, the more your natural oils will be stripped away and the less effective they’ll be in helping to keep brassy tones at bay.

This means that if you have oily hair, it may be best to use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner on alternate days rather than every day. There are also some shampoos out there that claim to cleanse without stripping oil from your hair (I found one called Blonde Angel that is great). This can help reduce brassiness since less oil will be lost during washing.

If you have dry or brittle strands, however, then daily cleansing may be necessary for good scalp health which would aid in preventing brassiness anyway!

Even if your blonde colour starts to turn brassy, there are methods you can use to get rid of the brassiness and restore your pure, natural color.

If you’ve found that your blonde hair is becoming brassy, it’s important not to panic. There are ways to remove the brassiness from your hair and restore its natural colour. Here are some tips for doing so:

  • Don’t overdo it. If you want to go darker, don’t try a drastic change in one day. Make sure you’re committed before making any changes because they can be hard to reverse once they’re done!
  • Invest in the right products for your hair type and colouring needs, like Olaplex Bond Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner or Blonde Brilliance Shampoo & Conditioner (if you want more info about these products click here). They contain purple pigments which will help neutralize unwanted yellow tones from bleaching blonde hairs – leaving only beautiful hues behind!
  • Use these treatments sparingly – every couple weeks maybe? It depends on how easily damage occurs for each person but if done too often could cause irreversible damage such as breakage/loss of shine/etc…
