Step 1: Mixing the Dye

Step 1: Mixing the Dye

The first step is to make sure you have all of your supplies. I recommend wearing gloves and an apron to avoid any spills. Mix the dye thoroughly with a spoon until it’s completely blended, making sure there are no clumps of dye that haven’t dissolved yet. Add the developer to this mixture and combine well again until it’s smooth and free of lumps.

Step 2: Applying the Dye

The next step is to apply the dye. To do this, you should:

  • Apply to dry hair. You can’t use this product when your hair is wet or damp—it will not work properly. Make sure that your hair is completely dry before applying any dye products.
  • Apply at the root first. This way, you’ll have even coverage throughout your head of hair and not just on top of it! To help ensure this happens, part your hair into small sections before applying dye and use a brush to apply it evenly throughout each section of hair (if you’re using an applicator bottle like I did).
  • Wear gloves while applying dye so that the chemicals don’t touch sensitive areas of skin like hands and face—they may cause irritation if they get on these areas!

Step 3: Blow Dry the Hair

After you’ve applied the dye, wait for it to completely dry. (If your hair is thicker than average or very long, you may have to leave it in for 10-15 minutes.) Once the color is dry, blow dry your hair on low-medium heat with a round brush. Focus on the roots and brush through every strand while drying. It’s important that you don’t use too much heat or brush too hard so as not to disturb any of the dye that might still be wet. You can also use a heat protecting spray before blowdrying if you want extra protection from high temperatures.

Use this time to think about how beautiful your new orange locks will look once they’re done!

Step 4: Rinse and Condition

Rinse and condition your hair. Use a conditioner recommended by the dye manufacturer. Avoid using shampoos and conditioners that contain sulfates or alcohols, as these ingredients can cause fading of your new orange dye job.

You should also avoid washing your hair for 24 hours after dying it orange, as this will help to set the color in place. To keep your new look bright and vibrant after you’ve washed it, look for a special conditioner made specifically for colored hair; it’ll have moisturiser ingredients built right into it so you don’t have to worry about applying an extra product afterwards!

Step 5: Style

  • Step 5: Style

The last step of your orange hair dye tutorial is to style your hair in a way that highlights the new color. This can be done with a bun, braids or twists. You can also add accessories like headbands or clips if you want to add more color and style. Here are some examples of styles on the blog:

  • Step 6* Style your hair in a way that highlights the new colorAs mentioned earlier, styling your hair differently will make it look more vibrant and stand out more against your skin tone. One great way to do this is by simply changing up how you style it each day!

Before and After Pictures

For a more dramatic effect, you can also try doing this on bleached hair. You will get a brighter and more vibrant orange color. A good example of how it looks is Jessica Simpson’s hair below!

Apply vibrant orange color to your hair.

It’s always best to have a professional apply hair dye. However, if you’re confident in your ability to do it at home and don’t mind spending a little extra cash on your hair, follow these steps:

  • Wash and dry your hair thoroughly before applying the dye.
  • Apply the vibrant orange color to your hair with a brush or comb in sections, starting at the roots and working towards the tips of each strand until they are completely coated with product.
  • Leave on for 15 minutes (hold off rinsing until after this time).
