You Will Not Believe what This Copper Hair Dye did to My Hair

I decided to dye my hair a warm copper color, but the results were not what I expected.

Before I started the process, my hair was a healthy blonde color. I knew that the dye would change the tone of my hair, but I didn’t think it would drastically affect my appearance. As you can see from my before and after photos, this wasn’t true at all!

I wanted to try something different than just a simple dye job; I had been coveting copper colored locks for some time now and thought this would be an easy way to make it happen. The only problem with this idea was that copper isn’t an appropriate color for everyday wear–even when you’re going out on date night or meeting up with friends for drinks.

After first, it looked like any old dye job.

After first, it looked like any old dye job. The copper hue was true to the color on the box and I didn’t notice any immediate reactions. My hair felt slightly dry but nothing too unusual for a dye job. After washing and drying my hair one more time, I noticed some interesting changes taking place.

But the next morning, things had changed.

The next morning, things had changed. The copper color had faded to a dull gray, and my hair—which had been falling out in large clumps since the dye job—had started to curl up into ringlets at the ends. Plus, it was growing! I could see new strands coming out of my scalp like tiny little green shoots popping up through fresh soil.

I ran outside to show my husband what was happening. He looked confused as he pointed at his own head: “Your hair is growing faster than mine.” Then he went back inside and locked the door behind him.

The next few days were tough.

The next few days were tough. I was dealing with a new hair color, texture and style that I wasn’t accustomed to. It took some time to get used to it!

Some of the side effects were surprising.

But whoa! Check this out!

The copper hair dye was actually a miracle cure that turned my hair into a magical, rainbow-colored mane. I mean, it was like a fountain of youth that made me look like I was 16 again. And though I am not sure how I feel about this (I would not recommend this dye to anyone), I am also not willing to let go of the magic just yet.

First impressions can be deceiving!
