This is Our Story of How We Accidentally Bleached Our Hair Blonde: A story about how we bleached our hair while trying to dye it auburn. It became blonde and we quickly turned it brunette.

We were going to dye our hair auburn, but somehow it turned out blonde. We thought that was fine, so we ignored it for a while.

The next day, I decided to fix it by trying a new product called “Over The Top Brunette” which is intended to be used on bleached hair. It was recommended by my friend who also has brunette hair and has had similar problems in the past.

It worked! My hair was now brown again! I looked at myself in the mirror and thought “I look like my mom” (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing).

I wanted to share this story because it was an experience that I found funny in the moment and even more funny now looking back on it. My hair color ties into my identity, so I felt very shaken up about this incident at first, but now I see that it was a silly thing to be upset about. It’s just hair after all!

Over the years, I have purposefully gone from blonde to red (MULLET YEAR), dyed my natural dark brown roots black twice, added purple highlights, and more recently went back to a medium-toned brown shade with caramel highlights. The latter is what I have been rocking for over a year as of today. It’s a beautiful soft ombre color that looks gorgeous on me imo and is exactly what I wanted when I went in for the appointment with my lovely hairstylist Christine.

As a blonde, I looked like a skunk that had gotten into the bleach.

After my experience with this particular hairdresser and their inability to get the color right on either occasion, I’m done with them for good.
