You can use indigo powder to dye your hair black.

Indigo powder can be used to dye your hair black. You’ll need:

  • Indigo powder (or indigo paste, if you prefer)
  • Coconut oil or another type of carrier oil (optional)
  • A plastic bag (to keep the dye in and your hands clean)

You can use indigo to create a black ombre look.

If you’d prefer a darker look on top, you can use indigo powder to create an ombre effect. For this look, you will begin with the same amount of plopping powder as in the previous method (about two tablespoons). Then, instead of using the foam applicator brush to apply the indigo dye evenly throughout your hair and scalp, use a spoon or similar utensil to scoop some dye from the bowl and apply it directly at the roots of your hair.

If there are any patches where you missed applying dye because they were hard to access or hidden by other sections of your head, use an old toothbrush (or even just some cotton swabs) dipped in water to gently massage those areas until they are covered with liquid stain. When all areas have been stained blue-blackish brownish—it’ll be much easier if you’ve got a friend helping out!—wash out with cool water until all traces of indigo have been removed from your tresses.*

Once dry after washing out all traces of indigo residue (which takes around 15 minutes), apply whatever styling products work best for you: gel pomade? Leave-in conditioner? Mousse? It’s up to you!

You can use indigo to add blue undertones to your hair.

If you want to add blue undertones to your hair, try adding a few drops of lemon juice to the dye. Mix in a bowl until it is a paste, and then apply to your hair. Let it sit for 30 minutes before washing out with shampoo (but don’t use conditioner).

Indigo is a versatile powder that can accomplish various looks.

Indigo powder is a versatile hair dye that can be used in a variety of ways to create several different looks. Indigo powder is made from indigo leaves, which come from the indigo plant. Indigo plants have been used for thousands of years to make dyes because they are rich in natural pigments and can be easily extracted into a powder form. Indigo plants are native to tropical regions like India and Africa and are grown primarily by hand. Since there is no chemical processing involved with making indigo powder, it’s considered safer than many other types of dyes on the market today.
